You may have heard that Texas based oil company— Burnett Oil Co.— continues to pursue permits that would authorize the company to develop two entirely new industrial oil developments within the boundaries of Big Cypress National Preserve.
A proposed new oil pad and access road threaten endangered wildlife, upland forests, cypress wetlands, and the sheet-flow of water from Big Cypress, vital to the Everglades and Florida Bay.
We have signed a letter asking for the Dept. of the Interior, and the National Park Service to uphold the highest protection for Big Cypress National Preserve.
